York Georgian Society

Visits

The Society organises visits to country houses and other Georgian buildings during the summer months for members and their guests. The 2008 programme included the rare privilege of a visit to Wentworth Woodhouse, former seat of the Earls Fitzwilliam. Its east façade, shown above, is the longest continuous house frontage in the country.

The Summer Programme for 2010 includes visits to Scawby Hall, Rokeby Park and other private houses; tours of Bootham School and the Crown Courts, York; and guided tours led by Dr David Neave of Sledmere House, its estate and village, and of Georgian Hull.
